Proxmox Infrastructure
A Proxmox-based environment running virtual machines and Linux containers for infrastructure, management services, testing environments, and game hosting.
SOFTWARE DEVELOPER • AUTOMATION • HOMELAB BUILDER
I build software, automate processes, manage server infrastructure, and spend a lot of my free time experimenting with technology just to see what I can make it do.

ABOUT
I'm Blaine Lambert, a software developer from Mississippi with a background in programming through Base Camp Coding Academy.
I enjoy building things that have a real purpose. That can mean developing an application, automating a workflow, working with test automation, managing servers, troubleshooting infrastructure, or working through a problem until I understand exactly why it behaves the way it does.
Outside of traditional development, a lot of my time goes into self-hosting, game server infrastructure, networking, and experimenting with new technology. Building my own homelab has given me hands-on experience with Linux, virtualization, DNS, reverse proxies, containers, APIs, and server administration.
A MOMENT THAT STUCK WITH ME
Before starting my career in software, I had the opportunity to sit down with the Southern Sentinel and share my story after being accepted into Base Camp Coding Academy.
Getting to talk about where I came from, what I wanted to do, and the direction my life was beginning to take was an experience I'll always appreciate. It was one of the first times I really got to step back and realize that all of the work I was putting in was beginning to lead somewhere.
One of the things I remember most happened afterward. Northeast Mississippi Community College sent me a personal congratulatory letter from Dr. Ricky Ford, the President of the college.
It wasn't a generic piece of mail, either. The letter came on a large, heavier piece of paper, already laminated, with an official seal and Dr. Ford's business card included with it. The amount of care that went into something as simple as a congratulatory letter really stuck with me.
At that point, I was still at the beginning of figuring out where software development could take me. Having the president of a college take the time to recognize what I was doing made the moment feel much bigger than I expected.
I hung the letter above my great-grandfather's catch-all because he was incredibly proud of me. Seeing how much it meant to him made the letter mean even more to me. It is still one of those things that makes me smile.
The article, that letter, and moments like those remind me that progress isn't only about the next language, job, project, or technology. Sometimes what stays with you most is knowing that the people around you were proud to watch you get there.

HOMELAB
My homelab is both useful infrastructure and a place to experiment. I use it to host services, run game servers, test networking ideas, and learn technologies outside of a traditional development environment.
A Proxmox-based environment running virtual machines and Linux containers for infrastructure, management services, testing environments, and game hosting.
Pi-hole handles local DNS while Nginx Proxy Manager provides
clean reverse-proxy routing to internal services using my
private home.arpa domain.
I manage dedicated game server infrastructure through Pterodactyl, including deployment, storage, networking, administration tooling, backups, and server maintenance.
A centralized Homepage dashboard gives me live visibility into my Proxmox infrastructure, containers, game servers, DNS services, and administration tools.
I've been playing DayZ for around eight years and have accumulated nearly 10,000 hours in the game. I originally started on console, long before I had any intention of modifying the game or working with its code.
Eventually, I built my own PC and made the move from console. That opened the door to DayZ modding and gave me another place to explore my curiosity for software development.
I started small, making basic overrides to existing game files just to understand how things worked. Over time, that grew into creating entirely new systems and features using Enforce Script. A lot of it started with one simple question: "Can I make this work?"
For me, modding is less about changing a game and more about having a huge sandbox where I can experiment, troubleshoot unfamiliar systems, and keep learning simply because I'm curious about how software works.
